The Library of the “Corte dei conti” dedicated to the judge Antonino De Stefano
The Library of the Italian Corte dei conti, dedicated to the judge Antonino De Stefano, was set up in 1862 and it is located in the present building since 1962. It is one of the largest legal libraries in the Country, basically specialized in public law, especially administrative and civil law, as well as economics, public accounting. Many sections are devoted to the disciplines for social sciences, like history, sociology, philosophy and political science. Besides, there is an important fund dedicated to the documentation of administrative source (so-called "grey literature"). In general we can say that the property counts more than 250,000 volumes, continuously increasing, and more than 3.000 Italian and foreign serials, including current and closed publications. Users can appreciate the consultation from open shelves which allows direct access to the majority of the books.
The original core of the books collection, a legacy from the Corte dei conti of the Italian Kingdom, consisting of more than 4.000 volumes, concerns the legislation of the ancient Italian states during pre-unification period.

You can get to it by underground line A, stop Lepanto, or by bus, lines 89, 30, 495, stopping at the Viale Mazzini facing the Post office.
The reading rooms are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00. The Library is usually open from September 1st to July 31st and is closed only in August.
The access to the Library is allowed not only to all members and staff of the Corte dei conti, but also to teachers, students, legal professionals, lawyers and all the interested people, in limited number and on application. It is possible to obtain an annual card to access and to use any related service.

The online public catalog ( OPAC ) is available on the web-site (http://biblioteca.corteconti.it/ ).
The Library offers to the readers an Internet kiosk, activated in the reading rooms, which allows free surfing on local electronic resources (DVDs) and remote ones (newspapers, directories and databases, online reviews, e-books).
A free Wi-Fi connection it is available inside the reading rooms.
Volumes can be usually lent for 15 days and in a maximum of 5 units.
The users must return the volumes borrowed at the agreed date, or they can ask for a renewal and they have to guarantee the care and conservation status of the book.
It’s also possible to book the loan by sending a request by e-mail or by phone and it is possible to have a customized service of research and have documents sent by e-mail after filling in an application form. Appliers can request to the library’s staff and receive in few minutes by e-mail part of publications (such as articles from a journal or chapter from a book available in electronic format), respecting copyright.
Photocopiers are also available in the reading rooms.
The Library produces some bibliographical bulletins which can be received by e-mail after filling in an application form.
